Steve’s Fiver – Edited to reduce forgery etc.

I thought to myself who is this Steve Coape-Arnold, why did he write his name across this note and more importantly where is he? I was suddenly reminded of all stories I’d read across the internet, twitter and Facebook of people being reunited with cameras and memory card and how the power of people, social media and the ability to share had helped these items return home.

So people of internet – can we find Steve Coape-Arnold? Can we find out who he is, where he is and maybe even find out when he wrote his name on the well used Fiver?

I understand this is a long shot especially when dealing with money i mean anyone could claim to be Steve! Still it’ll be fun to see just how far we can share this story and even better if we find Steve in the process.

It is the project of Graham Hill, entrepreneur and treehugger.com founder, to come up with an ideal New York apartment—one with a small footprint, both physically and environmentally, and one that offers just as much beauty and functionality as a pad multiple times its size….. When you walk in, you encounter what is, at first glance, a small studio apartment. Within that cube are actually 8 functional spaces. The living room and office become the bedroom with a tug of a bookshelf. Open one of the closets and you’ll find 10 stackable chairs that go around a telescopic dining table for large dinner parties. An entire guest room with bunk-beds and a closet is revealed behind a wall that slides out on tracks. And of course, a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom await.

This is the current Explore page from the Android version – I use this as an example because this the version I use most. As you can see we have a collection of filtered pictures the refresh arrow and magnifying glass to search users and hashtags. This page needs to go! Explore should be about exploring, giving us in site and a reason to continue to seek new users. At no point have i ever followed anyone that I’ve seen on this page. Now that may have a lot to do with the actual content displayed – most of the pictures are of painted nails, braided hair and popular musicians (Bieber, One Direction).

Heres what I’d like to see -

Instagram Blog: they post to it weekly but unless you follow instagram and are willing to the go to blog page you miss a large portion of the work that the instagram team is doing.

• Map: Show me who’s using Instagram nearby or better yet the pictures that have been taken nearby so i can go and see the image in the flesh
• Popular #: Hashtags are here (for now) so lets see them, lets explore whats being shared.
• Artist focus: One instagram user each day – a short bio on them, who they are what they take and then 6 of their most popular pictures.

These small changes could open Instagram up to a wider audience and give better in site to those that are using.
